Upon completion in late spring, the Square 80 green plaza will be an open space with more than 20 trees, an activity lawn, trellised seating and landscaped areas.  Sustainable features will include native and adapted plantings that require minimal watering and a state-of-the-art stormwater reclamation system.

Creation of this 32,000 square foot area was part of GW’s 2007 Foggy Bottom Campus Plan.  It is being constructed in conjunction with GW and The School Without Walls’ (SWW) public-private partnership.  The partnership culminated in last fall’s opening of the campus’ newest residence, South Hall, and the completely renovated and expanded Grant School (SWW).

The Green GW Earth Day Fair at University Yard (H Street, NW, between 20^th and 21^st Streets), sponsored by GW’s student groups focused on sustainability, will feature live music, food, and activities.
